A VILE ATTACK.

TO THE EDrTOR.

Sir,—l cannot find language sufficiently strong to express my iudignatiou aud disgust on receiving ou Siturday through the post a most vile, contemptible, mean, and bcurrilous printed circular of a nature that could only have emanated from a low, weak-minded, despicable wretch unworthy the name of man, containing charges of a nature unfitted for publication, reflecting on a member of the House of Representativts who I have worked with in public bodies for a number of years, and who it is well known that I have also publicly and vigorously opposed during his election contests for the past few years, and, having tbe.privilege of an elector, may do so again. Sir, I do hope for reasons that would be indelicate to express in tbis letter that the cowardly assassin and author of the circular referred t •, and who dares not deal openly with public men but only by implications, inuendoes, secret and mysterious whisperings, and frequently under th» cover of "flora deplumes,'' should bo discovered, and a whip placed in every hand to la&h the dastardly scoundrel whoever he or they may be. For what public man would be safe if such vicious conduct against decency were to go unpunished ? I am, etc., Hen by J. Walter. Dunedin, November 8.
