The nomination of candidates to represent the Blueskin Riding of the Waikouaiti County Council took place to-day at the Good Templars

Hall, Waitati,

There being np other candidates, the Re-, turning Officer (Mr Smith) declared Mr Qreen. and Mr Bqlt elected. Mr Gbejv, j n returning thanks, said that a, neat many remarks had been made outside the Council Chamber as to the mode in which the business of the County Lad been oondnoted, and he wished that a contest h«id taken place so that matters concerning the ratepayers could have been well ventilated. Until yesterday he had understood a contest wmld take place, but the opposition had faded away.
