At Kensington shortly after four o’clock yesterday morning a four-roomed house, Sirtially unoccupied, belonging to Mrs T. ayes, was burned. Half of it was occupied by William Martin, a lumper, and his daughter, and the latter was alone in the house when the fire broke out. When she was awakened the fire was breaking through above where she slept. The house was insured for LSO in the Phoenix Office,

At Ponsonby (Auckland) yesterday an eight-roomed house belonging to Mrs Dowden was burned down. The family had just removed to a new house adjoining. Insurances: L4OO on the building in the Colonial, and LI 70 on the furniture in the Royal.

On Sunday morning three cottages at Helensville, belonging to Mr. W. Adams, were destroyed by fire. They were insured for L4OO in the Royal Office. On Sunday night an incendiary firfe was timely discovered at the Governor Browne Hotel, in Hobson street. The son of the licensee found that a quantity of rags, saturated with oil, had been placed in a room and ignited. Houlihan (the licensee) had not his furniture insured.
