Hansby, for tho Manukau via Lyttelton and intermediate ports. Tho Beautiful Star arrived at Dunedin wharf at 9.35 p.m. on Saturday from Oamaru, having left that port at 3 10 p m. Had calms and fine weather till passing Moeraki, thence light westerly winds. The Invercargill, from Invercargill, arrived at Port Chalmers at 6 a.m. yesterday, and steamed direct to town. The Crest of the Wav-e, from tho Coast, anived yesterday afternoon, and anchored off Carey Bay. The following vessels have been been berthed at the Dunedin wharves during tho past week ;-Arrivals: Elinor Vernon 646 tons, Herald 366, Invercargill 128 (twice), Beautiful Star 146 (thrice), Grafton 297, Mararoa 1,248, Wainui 391, Omapere 352, Kakanui 66, Mawhera 310, Wakatipu 1,168, Ohau 411; total, 6,838 tons. Departures: Invercargill 123 (twice), Rotorua 676, Kakanui 66, Beautiful Star 146 (twice), Herald 356 Smaraad, 246; total. 1,771 tons. The Mawhera, from the West Oeast, passed the Fort to Dunedin at 0.16 a.m. yesterday. The Wakatipu, from Sydney via Wellington, arrived alongside the George street pier at 2.30 a.m. yesterday, and as soon as the tide was favorable she steamed up to town. She left Sydney at 9.5 p.m. on tho 23rd ult.; cleared the Heads atlO p.m., had variable winds and squally weather, and passed Cape Farewell at 7 a.m. on the 28th ult.; breasted Stephens Island at 11p.m. same day, and reached Wellington at 8.30 a.m on the next day ; left that port at 6.6 p.m. on the Ist inst.; had strong southerly winds, and passed Akaroa at 11.30 a.m. on the 2nd inst, arriving as above. We thank Purser E. Touett for report. Tho Ohau, from Auckland, arrived at Port Chalmers at 6.40 p.m, yesterday, and passed up to Dunedin, Sho left Auckland on the 23th ult.; hod light to fresh southerly winds, with moderate sea throughout. We thank Purser Seigel for report. The brigantine Camille, from Nelson, arrived off tho Heads yesterday evening, and anchored until this fore, noon, when she was towed into port, and anchored in the Quarantine Ground in readiness to proceed to Dunedin. Auckland.—Manapouri arrived 11.80 a.m. from Gisborne. ARRIVAL OP THE TAINUI. | The Shaw, Savlli, and Albion Company’s stoamef Tainui, Irom Plymouth via Cape Town and Hobart, anchored off the Heads early this morning, and signalled "All well.” She was boarded by Pilot Paton,

and as soon as the tide was favorable she crossed the bar, and was promptly cleared by Dr Drysdale and Mr Macdonnell, She berthed alongside the George street pier in readiness to discharge her Dunedin cargo. The Tainui is still under the command of Captain Barlow. Since her last visit to this {port in September, 1880, some of her officers have been changed. Mr Bolden has succeeded Mr Gavin as fou-th officer, Mr J. R. Hertsford comes ns purser, and Dr J. A. Macdonald as surgeon, while the engineer’s department is still under the charge of Mr Waddell. She brings 400 tons of cargo for Dunedin, 400 tons for Lyttelton, f5) tons for Wellington, 370 for Auckland, 120 for Nnpier, and 300 tons for transhipment to other ports. Nineteen bags 'f mails were delivered, one bag from Cape Town, and three from Hobart. She brings 127 passengers, twenty-nine cf them being for Otago. The whole of tho passengers enjoyed excellent Health, there being the usual amusements, fire and boat drill; the Rev. Mr Wilson acted ns ship’s chaplain during’ the passage. The Lyttelton and Wellington passengers proceeded North by the Ilawea this afternoon. Sho left London at noon on May 19 ; arrived at Plymouth at 130 p.m. on the 21st; reached Ttneriffe at 7 a.m. on the 2(ith ; coaled and left at 11 am, tho same day ; had fine weather and good S.E. trade, and reached Cape Town at C.30 p.m on June 10; embarked mails and passengers, and left at 10.30 p.m. the same day; had ve:y pleasant weather across the Southern Ocean, arriving at Hobart at 7am. on June 30; landed passengers and left at 3 p.m. the same day ; had strong N.E. winds and fine weather, and passed the Traps at 3 p.m. on the third inst., reaching Otago Heads at 5 a.m. today; crossed the bar at 1.30 p.m., drawing 22ft of water, and reached the wharf at 2.15 p.m. Snipping Telegrams.
