THE CASE OF FORWARD. SYDNEY, June 30. (Received July 1,1887, at 1 a.m.)

Mr Justice Williams to-day refused the application for the discharge of Charles Forward, solicitor, charged with larceny as a bailee at Auckland, but ordered that he is not to be taken to New Zealand until his health permits of his being safely removed. Bail was allowed.

Premier Gillies, who arrived in Adelaide yesterday, had an interview with Premier Playford to-day, and expressed anxiety to know whether South Australia would join the Federal Council. Mr Playford replied that the subject had not yet been considered by his Government.

The Centennial Celebration Bill, embodying the Government's proposal for the formation of Lachlan Park and the erection of a State palace therein, was read a seoond time in the Assembly last night, The session is expected to close in a fortnight.

COLONIAL REVENUE RETURNS. MELBOURNE, July 1.

The revenue of the Colony for the year ended 80th June amounted to L6,734,0Q0, being L 200.000 above the estimate and an increase of L 317,000 compared with the pre* vious year. The increases shown in the customs were LI 28,000, in territorial revenue L 24.000, in railways L 147.000, in stamps L20,0Q0. There was a decrease in the excise revenue of L 25,000. The total revenue for the past quarter was L 52.000 more than that of the corresponding quarter of 188586.

ADELAIDE, July 1.

The revenue for the year which closed yesterday amounted to L 1,808,000, being L 375,000 below the Treasurer's estimate in November last and L 411.000 below the total receipts of the previous year. The revenue from customs decreased by L 12.000, from the land and income tax by L 86.000, from territorial revenue by L 59.000; but the railway receipts increased by L 24,000. The total revenue for the June quarter shows a slight increase compared with the corresponding period of last year,
