Twenty-three horses started. There was a good finish, Stanley winning by a length. Time, 2min 20sec. Mitrailleuse never showed prominently during the race. Rain fell continually after the second race.

At the Takapuna races on Saturday Magnesia won the Hurdle Race; Teddy Yuille the Devonport Handicap, beating Friendship and Reproach ; and Silvio the Steeplechase, after a capital race. Two accidents occurred. In the Selling Hurdles Whalebone fell at one of the hurdles, and Long, the jockey, was injured, and is suffering from concussion of the brain. In the Hurdle Race Rob Roy fell atone of the hurdles, and Fergus, the jockey, sustained concussion of the brain.

At a meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club on Saturday evening a letter was read from the Invercargill Club, which stated that the horse Cathedral, the owner (T. B. Mortimer), and the rider (Robert Mitchell) had been disqualified by the Club for twelve months for unfair riding at a meeting at Invercargill on tho 15th inst. It was resolved that the disqualification be endorsed by the Dunedin Jockey Club.
