TO THE EDITOB. Sir,—l was not surprised on reading your excerpt from the ' Bruce Herald' re the above. Our Society 'or tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals should endeavor to punish the sender of these pigs. Was no one's attention drawn to tho p gs before the animals reached Southland ? Whoro were our railway officials to allow the animals to pass through ? 1 can safely say that their condition was noticed in Duncdin, and many persons cried out "shame." The attention of the Dunedin inspector for cruelty to animals was, I am told, drawn to the matter. If so, he should have seen to it at once, or, if engaged elsewhere, should have got someone to represent hjm.—l am, etc., One Who Was There. Dunedin, April 2.'
