A Committee of Inquiry into the Public Works Department recommended extensive reductions in the clerical staff. THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. SYDNEY, April 6. The Premier has received a telegram from the Agent-General in London stating that there was no intention of permitting discussion on Imperial Federation at the Con ference.
