THE BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

A well-attended meeting of the Bible-in-Schools Council was held yesterday in the Young Men’s Christian Association Ro6ms. Communications were read from Auckland, Nelson, Christchurch, and from the convener of the Presbyterian Synod’s Committee, all being in a hopeful tone as to the success of the movement in the near future. Resolutions were passed authorising and requesting cordial co-operation between members of the Bible-in-Schools Association, the Synod’s delegates, and all interested in promoting the desired object. It was resolved to organise throughout the country in order to secure the return, at the general election, of those members of Parliament who will vote for and advocate such alteration of the Education Act as will enable school com mittees to awange for the daily reading of the Bible in schools, subject to a time-table an 4 conscience clause. A suggestion from the Nelson Committee, that a meeting of supporters of Bible-reading in schools be held in Wellington during the closing session of the present Parliament to confer on the subject and adopt some line |of action, was cordially adopted.
