DUNEDIN SPRING RACES.
The spring meeting of the Danedin Jockey Club will be held on Saturday and Monday, and from the unusually good quality of the horses engaged it should surpass in interest any yet held here at thiß season of the year. Proceedings commence to-morrow with the Hurdle Handicap, for which J fancy Magic, Trapper, and Glenara. The Maiden Plate should be won by Puck <i Rubezabl. A more open event than the St. Andrew's Handicap I have not had to deal with for some time, it being difficult to pick a single horse that may be distinctly said to be oat of it, bat, taking a leap in the dark, I shall plump for Nelson. The Two-Year-Old Selling Race should undoubtedly f;o to Strenuous. Of the nineteen acceptors or the Trot I shall take a favorite and an outsider, and split my vote between Oliveb and Biddy M'Kay. The All-aged Skiing Race looks a good thing for Hazard ; and the Spring Handicap should be fought out between Molly Bawn, Billy, and Rubina, in which order I like them-,
In betting circles business is mostly confined to doubles on the St. Andrew's and Spring Handicaps, or the St. Andrew's and Trot. Prices range from 100 to 10 up to 100 to 4, according to the horses taken. For the St. Andrew's Handicap, Taiaroa and Ike are most generally taken; for the Spring Handicap, Billy; for the Trot, Oliver. Pegasus.
