AUCKLAND, November 27.
Mr Rochfort and party have commenced the survey of the Main Truck Line at this end. Some little disappointment was experienced when it became known that the survey for preparing the plans and specifications for the first section will take a considerable time, and that tenders are not likely to be called for till the autumn. There is a good deal of actual work to be done in foundings of swamps, etc., and Mr Bochfort will shortly be assisted by Messrs Hursthouse and Holmei.
At last night's meeting of the City Council thesnbjeotof the Costley uequest to the public library and its management was brought up. Some curious revelations were made as to the position and appointment of trustees. The whole subject was eventually referred to a committee.
WANGANUI, November 28,
Sister Cecilia died in the Convent here this morning. She had been ailing for two days only. She has been here for about two months, and came originally from Greymouth, where her parents reside.
