DOCK-MASTER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — At the last meeting of the Harbor Board Captain Thomson was appointed to the position of Dock-master, 1 understand that he held the position previously when Harbor- master. Now, why cannot Captain M‘Farl»ne, whose salary is L4OO per annum, fulfil the duty pertaining to the office? Perhaps it is an honorary position. If not, I should like to be informed what are the emoluments derived from the office referred to, as I did not see any mention of it made when the new appointment was given.—l am, etc., Tongariro. Danedin, December 13.
