Macingate, R. Bills, and R. Dallis. The barquentino Bannockburn left Brisbane on tho 6th inst. for Dunedin. According to the 'Australasian Shipping News, the s.s. Nithsdale left Glasgow for Port Chalmers on March 19, and is consequently sixty-nine days out. We find from 'Lloyd's Register' the Nithsdale was built by Cunliff and Dunlop, of Port Glasgow, in 1881, for Messrs R. Mackill and Co., of that city. She is an iron vessel, and has five bulkheads. Her dimensions are:—Length, 241 ft 3in; breadth of beam, 32ft 61n; depth of hold, 15ft. She is fitted with compound inverted engines of 120 horse-power, and is in every respect a first-class vessel, her class at Lloyd's being 100 Al. The Star of the South, coal-laden from Westport, arrived at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. She left Westport at 1 p.m. on the 18th inst.; passed Cape Farewell next morning, and Capo Campbell at midnight; experienced light winds and fine weather, and breasted Akaroa at 8 p.m. on the 25th, arriving as above. During the passage of the German brig B. H. Steenken from this port to Sydney she experienced a continuation of heavy gales and high sea. The Westland, which left this morning for London in tow of the tug Piucky, takes a full and valuable cargo, consisting of 3,051 bales wool, 47 bales rabbitskins, 33 bales baßils, 74 casks pelts, 72 casks tallow, 2,488 cases meats, 144 saeks peas, 9 bales rags, 1,012 sacks wheat, 10 sacks flour, 15 sacks pollard, 128 bales leather, and 1 package. The Westland being in fine trim, a good race home is anticipated between her and tho barque Arthuretone, which also left this forenoon. The Arthuretone, with 14,150 sacks wheat, sailed for London this forenoon, being towed clear of tho Heads by the Koputai. The Waitaki loft Timaru at 5 p.m. on the 26th; experienced line weather along the coast, and reached port Chalmers at seven o'clock this morning. The shipping in harbor hoisted their colors half,nast high to-day out of respect to the memory of Mrs George Dodson. The brigantine Adieu, coal-laden from Greymouth, arrived at Port Chalmers this morning. She left tho Grey on the 17th inst.; carried westerly winds to Cape Farewell; thence light easterly through Cook Strait; passed Cape Campbell on the 20th, when it hauled to the southward, and blew a heavy gale for twenty-four hours; passed Banks Peninsula on tho 22nd; had light variable airs and calms until the Bth, when the wind settled down to the northward brought her into port.
