THE JEWISH PERSECUTION.

There has been another sharp debate in the Prussian Parliament on the position and righ' sof the Jaws. Herr von Ludwig introduced a motion to the effect that the Government should cause statistics to be collected as to the projectors of joint-stock companies, etc., since the passing of the shareholding law, showing their religious and political oonviotions, and the results of their enterprise*. Most of them, it was asserted, would be found to be " Jews and swindlers." The motion was ultimately withdrawn, but cot until several speakers had given expression to a large amount of bitter ill-will against the obnoxious Semitic race. One orator ventured to asseoiate the name of the Emperor with this barbarous agitation; while another maintained that the recent protest drawn up by Profassor Mommaen was feigned by various " bubble company blowers." Herr Sbruve, who spoke on the other side, was repeatedly interrupted by recriminatory outcrieß, and was thrice called to order—an incident quite unprecedented in that undemonstrative Assembly. He stated that members of the oldest n ability had been specially mixed up with bubble concerns, but though appealed to to mention their names, he declined to do so. A journal which is supposed to represent the opinions oi Prince Bismarck haa declared that he outirely disapproves if the outc.y of Herr Stbjker and his followers.
