LAND BOARD.

At tho usual weekly meeting held today, there were present-Messrs Maitland (chairman), Bastinjrs Reeves, Clark, Green, and Bradshaw. Mr R. Park appeared to support the application or It Marcus and other agricultural leaseholders to be allowed an extension of time to pay the present rents due on their respective leases.-It was considered that this was a mattor that did not eorao within the discretion of tho Board, and tho application was therefore Messrs Connell and Moodie, on behalf of J. Shennan, J Campbell, and the executors of Huyh Casoment, requested the Board to restrain tho Waipori Road Bowil from diverting the Walpori River from 1U its natural channel to a now one through Crown lands, bailor part of section 29, block 2, Mauniratua,— Mr Connell drew the attention of the Board to the action takon by it in 1875 in reference to the land In question. On June 9of that year Mr S;m applied on behalf of the Waipori Road Board for a part of the bush reserve in Mock 2, Maunjratua, for tho purpose of diverting tho Waipori river and forming a Wticable road alontf tho bank, and. the following ulnute was recorded :—The reserved section '29 to be gold by auction at the upset price of LI is per acre, less the land required for cutting the stream Towards the latter end of the same month he (Mr Connell) appeared for J. Shennan and uthers to request tho Board to withdraw permission to cut a new channel for the Waipori Hirer through bush resorve, block 2 Mautijratua. when the minute of the 9th |June was amended to the following effect: portion of action 29, block 2. which may hereafter Le required in improving the Waipori Stream." After considerable diseussiou it was divide 1 to request tho Chief Commissioner to iitiwate to the Waipori Road Board that it ha/hi£ bt ->a reported to the Land Board that it was contemplated entering: certain Crown lands adjolnlntr section 29, block -I, in connection with works for diverting the course of the Waipori River, that the Road Board have at present no sanction from the Lind Board for entering upon the Crown lands for tnat purpose.
