METROPOLITAN COURSING CLUB OF OTAGO.

The weather this morning broke fine, but at half-past eight, when the Start was made, a mist hung over the hills. The party met at Dunne’s Bridge, and for an hour searched in vain for signs of hares, Ledger-keeper and Bungay then got a sight, but Ledgerkeeper had all the best of the course, and though the hare got away he was decided the winner of the course. Game being scarce, a move woe made two miles further on to Lockhart’s farms, where four hares were put up quickly. Scaldings and Juliet ran a no course, but on being slipped again the bitch took possession, scoring rapidly. Scaldings killed, but Juliet was declared the winner. Honeydew and Richmond put up a wounded hare and killed it, but the judge’s verdict was “no course.” Tasman and Chester ran a no coarse, the .hare being killed quickly, but the dogs were out of sight. Then ensued more hare-hunting. After a long search two bates were put up in a turnip-field. Tasman and Chester got in and killed one, a strange dog disposing of the other. A vexatious search continued till abreast of Clarksville. The sport is terribly slow. The results so far are : AWi-aohb Stakbs, for thirty-two greyhounds, at L 3 3s each, msi ROUND. Mr H Driver's r and f d Ledgorkeeper, Treasurer— Hlt-or-Miss; beat Mr G M Gavin's blk and w dog Bungery, Anacora- Tricolor, Mr W J CaverhilTs r and w a Juliet, Belchristle— Glare; beat Mr Janies Daniels’s b d Scaldings. BenFly. ° Mr H Prince's hrindle s Magic (the winner of the Oatnaru Waterloo Cup), Farrier Regalia, was ttbvq* r^en ' B k®°j Cacique—Fly, ran At half-past 2, after everybody was tired out looking for hares, three were put up one after another quickly. Mr Robert Smart’s bl and w d Tasman; beat Mr Reid Junr.'s bl d Chester, Cheviot—Aberiady. Mr A Thomson’s r d Richmond, Red Kail—Florence; beat Mr James Daniels’s b s Honeydew, Billy’s Bargain —Honey. Mr J A Duthie’s w and br d Briton, Dlgby Grand— Beatrice; beat Mr G M’Gavin’a w and r d Essendon, Blue Light—Blink Bonny. These three courses were run in 14min, each hare being started out of the same watercourse.
