THE GOVERNOR'S VISIT.
His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by the Postmaster-General, Ur George M'Lean, M.H B.; and Captain bt. John, A.D.0., proceeded to Port Chalmers by special train at 245 o’clock this afternoon. There was no formal reception, but the shipping was gaily decorated. The Governor inspected the ■wharves and graving dock, and was shown over the workshops by Mr Armstrong, the railway engineer. He witnessed the making of some buffers for waggons; and expressed his admiration of the process by, which old rails and old railway material were ut lised and worked up under the Steam hamm r. The Governor and party attend the oit'zins’ball to-night, and leave for Camara by special train at 9 o’clock to-morrow morning. ' . ;
