• South Dunedin. —At this Borough Council's meeting last night, the Mayor reported, on behalf of the Works Commitec, that the Caversham Council were(,u te prepared to do their share of the works on the Cargill road in conjunction with South Dunedin. Port -Chalmers. At this borough's Council meeting the Finance Committee recommended that Mr Walker's services during the period he occupied the position of town clerk should be recognised by the Council in some substantial manner, and that a sum be voted which would remunerate Mr Walker for the extra trouble he had been put to in placing the books in a Batisfactory state and separating the accounts. It was agreed to vote L2s.—The Waterworks Committee reported that they had been unable to arrange satisfactory terms with the owner of the tank at present used for supplying ships in the stream, aud would recommend that the question of obtaining appliances be considered by the Council in committee. They also recommended that, a portion of tho pipes having now arrived, they be at once laid down, aud that tenders for the Bamc bo called; and that the inspector be requested to send in a statement along with the tenders showing what it would cost the Corporation to lay them by day labor.
