Drunkenness.—John M'Vamara and Fanny Bell were convicted and discharged. Robbery from the Person.—Henry Page South was charged with stealing one lady's gold hunting lever watch and one lady's gold chain, together of the valne of Ll7; also five LI notes, the property of Arthur Staples.— Intpeotor Mallard said tbat prisoner was only arrested by Detective Bain last night. The police had not recovered the watcb, and he asked for a remand for a week to enable the police to obtain its possession. If necessary he would adduce sufficient evidence to warrant the remand.—George Pocklington, bootmaker, said that he knew Arthur Staples, informant in this case. Witness saw accused on the railway station on the 14th nit. He accompanied witness and prosecutor to Port Chalmers. Prosecutor was " pretty well on," and on going on board the steamer Beautiful Star he went to sleep in bis bnnk. Witness went to his bunk a little time afterwards. Prisoner was at the bunk. Witness saw prisoner with Mb hands in proseoutor's breast bocket. He brought out some notes, which witness asked him for. He handed five notes to witness. —The remand applied for waß then granted, the case to be brought on earlier in the eveut of the watch being recovered.
