She did not desire to keep a bar open to the street.—The Bench thought it anything but desirable that licenses should be granted to boardinghouses, and on Inspector Mallard expressing the opinion that, as there were four hotels in the immediate vicinity of Waverly

license and the application was adjourned till the 25th inst. ADJOURNMENT. At 1.45 p.m. the Court adjourned, and on resuming the Chairman alone took bis seat on the Bench. He said : I regret to have to state that during the interval Mr Strode has received a message from Mrs Strode requiring his immediate attendance at home, as his boy is very ill ami the mtdioal men are waitng there. Under these painful circumstances I cannot ask Mr Strode to remain, and ytu will all concur with me in tbinkiug there is a necessity for the Court's being adjourned until this day w. ek. lam sure he has deep and entire sympathy under the circumstances in which he

is placed. He hopes to be present on this ! day week, and the Court will stated ad-1 journed till that day.
