WASTE LAND BOARD.

A moating of the Waste Land Board was held at the Provincial Buildings to-day, There were present Messrs Tolmie, Duncan, Hughes, and Thomson, Mr Arch. Vallentine was granted a license for fifty acres of land at Hawkesbury, to be used as a quarry. M r Begg, on Vtchalf of Mr D. Clark, applied to purchase .‘-cctious 12 and 11, block 10, Wait.ahuna East, granted by the Board on the 11th January, 1871, but not paid for within the time fixed. Tlio Board ordered that the applicant should make a fresh application to purchase. The following applications to purchase lands held under agricultural leases were considered and approved : G. Clark, 8 and 35, block 10, Waitahuna East; J. Douglas, 48 and 105, block 3 Shotover; Robertson and Ross, 74, 8, 75 and 18, block 4, and 73 to 80 inclusive, block 1, 76 block 4, 134 to 137 inclusive, block 1, and 15, block 4, Shotover; J. Far and, requiring the Board to cancel his leaseaud pay compensation for improvements tffeuted on sections 33 to 40, block 2, Leaning Mock, was referred to the Government. The sale of sections 12 to 22, 25 to 34, block 4, Sutton district, and sections 1 to 7, block in same locality, amounting to 1,924 acres already surveyed into sections of from 50 to 127 acres, was approved.

The consideration of objections to the issue of a lime burning license to John Nelson, Kapiti, granted on 9th October, 1872, was postponed. An application, made by the Hon. R, Campbell, to amend plan of survey as per sketch submitted, was granted on the same condition as original application. Messrs W. audJ, Banders applied for Mr Campbell’s original application, which wks for 10 0 acres, and was opposed ou the ground that a portion of it was auriferous. The applicant now proposes to abandon abut 5300 acres of original application, supposed to be auriferous, and take up an equal area lying south of Black Hill and Trig. Station H, and bounded by the Waitaki and Otaak rivers.

Messrs W. and J, Sanders applied for authority to purchase fOO acres ou run 2 >6, to secure their homestead. Referred to Warden of the district.

Mr Watson Shenan apolied for a lease of coal area on Douglass and Co.’s run, with the runholders consent. The application was granted, the conditions being L 5 per annum for 5 acres, and the coal to be delivered at the pit’s mouth at 15s per ton. Mr Tolmie applied for an extension of time for the survey of section 7> block 2, Waipahi district. Granted,
