CROWDS IN BETHLEHEM

BETHLEHEM, Dec. 25,
The waning moon and bright stars lighted Bethlehem as a multitude of worshippers watched Christmas Ev« services. The great bells of the Church of the Nativity at midnight rang in the first peacetime Christmas for six years.
Masses were read in the, Grotto of the Nativity hourly after noon yesterday. A procession left Jerusalem for Bethlehem. The miracle of the birth of Christ was re-enacted at midnight.
