UPHAM SCHOLARSHIP
MONEY BEING COLLECTED P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 21
Money is now being collected to establish scholarships to commemorate the deeds of Captain C. H. Upham, V.C.| and Bar. The scholarships will be available to the sons or male descendants of men and women of Canterbury who served in the Armed Forces during the war of 1939-45. The scholarships will be tenable at Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, or Canterbury University College. The'idea behind the scholarships _ is to help the sons of deceased or disabled servicemen or servicewomen who may be prevented by financial circumstances from continuing with their post-secondary education. The annual value of the scholarships will be £100. It is hoped to raise a fund sufficient to provide a number of scholarships each year.
