RUSSIAN MINISTER'S PARTY

National drinks and delicaciesvodka and caviare brought from Mos-cow-r-were served at the cocktail party given between 5.30 and 7 o'clock last evening by Mr. Ivan K. Ziabkin, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the U.S.S.R. It was the first social function to be given by the Russian Legation in New Zealand, and was attended by about 100 guests.. Mrs., Ziabkin, who received the guests with her husband, wore; a three-quarter-length silver fox cape over her black frock and a small black cocktail hat of fine silk: straw'finished with a scalloped edging. ' Mr, ."PaveV Konstaninovich. Yermoshin, first secretary to the Legation, was with his wife, also Mr. Pavel Artemov, U.S.S.R. attache, and Mrs. Artemov, and Miss Barbara GeneraloV, secretary.

The private reception' room where the party was held was gay with bowls of gladioli on the long side buffet and bowls of carnations. . .At. a separate table a white-uniformed, chef carved turkey, ham, and pressed meats, and savoury dishes were served in silver bowls. .

Guests included members of the Consular Corps, High Commissioners, the Judiciary, Ministers of the Crown, heads of Government Departments, senior officers of the Army, Navy, .and Air Force, Labour? Party, and Trades and Labour Council /representatives, and1 a- number of Russian, residents of Wellington. i
