LEVY ON BANK-NOTES

LONDON, Dec. 20.
Business in Budapest is temporarily paralysed in consequence of a Government order today closing all banks as a sequel to the announcement of a 75 pc • cent, levy on bank-notes of high denominations, stated Reuters Budapest correspondent. The levy is being collected by stamps affixed to notes. Unstamped notes are worthless after January 1.
