U.S. COMMANDER ACQUITTED ON ONE CHARGE
Rec 9 a.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 20. The Navy general court-martial acquitted Captain McVay, commander of the heavy cruiser Indianapolis, on the. charge of inefficiency in the loss of the Indianapolis. - t j • The court did not announce its decision on the charge of negligence in failing to order a zig-zag course. The Navy regulations require any finding of guilt to be reviewed by a higher authority before the verdict is announced, but require proven charges to be immediately published.
