CONFERENCE DELEGATE
MISS MCKENZIE LEAVES FOR
BRITAIN
Guests of 'at- an ..afternoon tea at the. Pioneer Club arranged this week by the executive of ,the Wellington branch of the National Council of Women were Mrs. Kent-Johnson, a well-known member of the council, and until recently president of the Napier branch, and Miss J. R. McKenzie, a member of the New Zealand delegation to the general assembly of the United Nations.
In the absence of Mrs. M. J. Forde, president of the Wellington branch, the visitors were welcomed by Mrs. R. Tait, vice-president, who expressed the great satisfaction of the National Council of Women at'the inclusion of Miss McKenzie in the delegation and assured her that the goodwill'of all its members would go with her. For some time the council and its affiliated societies have been urging the Government to . include a i woman in delegation's", to,' pverseas confer^n'ces,1. and furthfer representations were made,,to the Prime'^Minister .after 'the'; matter, had been discussed'at the, recent conference of the council in Napier. .. In spite of her short stay in England it is hoped that Miss McKenzie will be able to meet members of the National Council of Women in Great Britain, and a letter has been sent to the president. informing her of Miss McKenzie's visit.
