XMAS GREETINGS
MERCHANT NAVY MEN
The New Zealand representative of ■the British Ministry of War Transport (Sir Alexander F. Roberts) has received the following message for Merchant Navy clubs from the Minister of War Transport in London: "As Minister of War Transport I send cordial greetings and best wishes for Christmas, and the New Year-from those at home in the United Kingdom to all officers and men who may be visiting Merchant Navy clubs overseas and to all who help run the clubs. We who are specially concerned with the Merchant Navy will be thinking of you and rejoicing with you that we can once more keep a peaceful Christmas. We are especially grateful to many friends all over the world who have helped during the war to make the Merchant Navy clubs a place in which officers and men have received so v/arm a welcome and have found rest and relaxation. I' know that welcome will be appreciated today just as much as it was during the war, and we here are very happy to think that in so many overseas ports our merchant seamen, though away from their own homes, will yet be among friends."
