BRITISH TAKING OVER
REPORT IN LONDON
LONDON, December 19
A diplomatic correspondent understands that the British authorities are to take over the coal and heavy industries of the Ruhr, and that this will be announced on Friday by the Allied Control Council in Berlin. Ownership will pass completely from the German companies, and British experts will take over.
The British authorities will hold the Ruhr in trust until the Allies decide its future.
The French Government has already made known that it wants political and industrial control of the Ruhr. The British idea is rather that control, in the meantime, should be economic.
