SIR RICHARD PEIRSE RETIRES
LONDON, December 19. The London Gazette announces the retirement of Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Peirse, who will retain his rank. The Press Association says Sir Richard was called "Lucky" Peirse because of a number of escapes from death. He became Air Officer Com-manding-in-Chief, India, after being chief of Bomber Command.
