TERMS FOR THE SIAMESE

NOT UNDULY HARSH, SAYS PREMIER

Rec. 10.30 a.m. BOMBAY, Dec. 19. The Prime Minister of Siam, Pramej, in an interview with the correspondent of the "Times of India," said that an agreement would probably be signed shortly between the Siamese Government and the British authorities in Singapore. "I do not think the British terms unduly harsh," he said. "I believe the punishment should fit the crime, but it must be tempered to meet the circumstances."

The correspondent says it is provided among the terms that Siam shall meet the cost of maintenance and the expense of all the Allied forces stationed on Siamese soil, and pay compensation for all damage done to British property during the Japanese occupation. The export and production of commodities such as rice, tin, teak, and rubber will be regulated by the Allied military authorities until the world scarcity of these products ceases.
