FIREMEN'S MEAL ALLOWANCE P.A. AUCKLAND, December 19.
A decision that their tew award entitles Auckland firemen to receive an allowance of 2s a meal while they are relieving at out stations has been given by the Industrial Magistrate, Mr. J. A. Gilmour. The award came into force on November 12, but because it held some doubts regarding the relevant clause, the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board withheld payment of the new meal allowance till an interpretation had been obtained. In the meantime the former meal allowance of 3s a day was paid to men required for relieving at stations other than the one at which they were normally employed.
