CASKET TENNIS
WEATHER TROUBLESOME
The weather yesterday prevented a start being made on the Newtown Club's courts with the Nunneley Casket tennis challenge match between Wellington (holders) and Canterbury, and the games were postponed until today. After some damp periods this morning, play was interrupted at noon by a solid shower. At that stage the position was even, each team having won one match, while two unfinished matches were being closely contested. Some excellent tennis was seen in both the singles and the doubles and two players who showed up particularly well were Mrs. Robb and Miss Cross, of Wellington. Results up to the time of going to press were:— Singles. Mrs. J. Robb (Wellington) beat Mrs. K. Hart (Canterbury), 6-4, 6-3. Doubles. Mrs. Adams and Miss Burrell (Canterbury) beat Misses Cross and Fleming (Wellington), 7-5, 6-3.
