CHRISTMAS LEAVE

AIR FORCE AND ARMY

Five days, from December 25 to December 27 and January 1 and 2, have been declared special holidays for all R.N.Z.A.F. personnel, and similar provision has been made for the Army. This was announced in the House of Representatives yesterday by the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones) in answer to an urgent qustion by Mr. W. A. Sheat (National, Patea).

The Minister said additional leave would be granted, but would be charged against annual leave entitlement. Special arrangements had been made to carry long-distance travellers by air, and within the next few days negotiations with the Railways Department for the movement of shortdistance travellers would be completed. Personnel required to maintain essential services during the holiday period would receive equivalent leave at a later date.
