LORD ALANBROOKE
CABINET MEETING
BUSY DAY IN WELLINGTON
Field-Marshal Lord Alanbrookc, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, who arrived in Wellington last night, had an exceedingly busy day in Wellington before leaving for Taihape this afternoon, en route to Rotorua. The Field-Marshal visited Army Headquarters this morning:, where he was received by Lieut.-General Puttick. Later, at the request of the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser), Lord Alanbrooke met members of the Cabinet. At noon he was the guest of honour, together with Vice-Admiral Sir Philip Vian, al a State luncheon at Parliament House. The Field-Marshal, immediately afterwards, accompanied by General Puttick, left by motor-car on his wav to Rotorua,, where he will stay for a" few days. On December .1 he will leave Auckland by plane again for Australia. On arrival in Wellington last night he dined with the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom (Sir Patrick Duff) and Lady Duff. He was met at Ohakea yesterday ..afternoon by Sir Patrick and General Puttick and by representatives of tho Government. He hopes to meet the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) in Auckland. During his lightning tour of the Dominion he is accompanied by Lieut.Colonel A. S. Boyle as aide-de-camp.
