INDIAN REINFORCEMENTS

LONDON, November 27.

Transport planes in Java have taken reinforcements of several hundred Indians to Semarang. which British destroyers have shelled. Almost the whole of the naval base of Surabaya is now in British hands. On the other side of the island, R.A.F. Mosquitoes, with rockets and 501b bombs, attacked the radio station.

The British and Indian casualties in Java from October 15 to November 25 were 109 killed, 457 wounded, and 208 missing.

BATTLE WITH GURKHAS

LONDON, November 26.

Fierce fighting between Gurkhas and Indonesians continued at Ambarawa. in Central Java, today. Torrential rains at Bandoeng, 74 miles south-east of Batavia, which flooded part of the town, eased the situation, which was becoming threatening there. A communique issued by the Indonesian Information Department follow* ing a meeting of the Indonesian Republican Convention, alleged that the Briish in Java were using Japanese troops against the Indonesian Nationalists.
