No work was done on the Auckland waterfront yesterday, members of the Auckland Waterside Workers' Union being engaged at a stop-work meeting which lasted throughout the day, states a Press Association message. Operations were resumed when the night shift started work at 11 p.m. The meeting started at 8. a.m. and did not finish till just before 5 p.m. It was stated that special business had to be discussed. The Waterfront Control Commission received no information before the meeting that the discussions were likely to last longer than the usual two hours.
