Tv.'o seamen who admitted in the Magistrate's Court today that they deserted at Bluff on November 7 from their ship, the Mohawk Park, were each sentenced to a month's imprisonment by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. They were Vernon Milford Wilson, 19. and Michael Squirchuk. 19. The 'possibility of co-ordinating all appeals for funds in the Hutt Valley is to be investigated by a sub-com-mittee appointed last night by the Hutt Valley Junior Chamber of Commerce. The sub-committee consists ot Messrs. F. Watson, R. Lawton, and D. Howe.

The Chamber of Commerce commercial examinations which are held throughout New Zealand are now being conducted in Wellington. These examinations, which cater solely tor commercial subjects, include shorthand (speeds up to 160 w.p.m.), typewriting, senior and junior, bookkeeping, office practice, Engish composition and business letter writing, and handwriting. Over 3000 entries have been received this year, which constitutes a record.
