WARRANTS OF
FITNESS
REMINDER TO MOTORISTS
In reminding motorists of their re» sponsibility to ensure that their war* rants of fitness are kept renewed, the Transport Department has pointed oui that it is more than ever importani that cars should be checked over foi their mechanical fitness. Today's car is older, and because of lack of use there has frequently been deterioration, and adjustments are necessary to put the vehicle in a road-worthy- condition. ' "Although at the present time the private car owner is required to renew his warrant only once every twelve months, traffic inspectors are finding a large number to be without a curreni warrant," said the Commissioner oJ Transport, Mr. G. L. Laurenson. "Owners who disregard this requirement," added Mr. Laurenson, "may be endangering the - safety of others as well as " themselves. Should these breaches continue it will be necessary to prosecute offenders and to draw the attention of the Courts to the serious consequences that may follow neglect in haying this periodic check made of vehicle fitness."
