TO STAY IN EUROPE
THOUSANDS OF U.S. PLANES Rec. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 5. Over 4500 aircraft belonging to the United States air forces in Europe have been returned to America since Germany capitulated, including about 1500 Flying Fortresses and over 1000 Liberators. Several thousand American aircraft, however, will remain in Europe to perform the tasks allotted under the German surrender terms, protect American installations, zones, and communications, and transport passengers and supplies.
