YOUTHS LEAVE INDUSTRY
Rec. 12.5 p.m. MELBOURNE. Sept. 4. Many desertions of youths from inindustrial establishments since ,the end of the war. following the removal of certain man-power controls, is causing serious embarrassment to the many employers and tends to endanger the output of much-needed textiles, clothing, and footwear. The Government may be asked to restore the control of juveniles between the school-leaving age and 18 years. Most of those leaving essential industries appear to be going into luxury occupations such as hairdressing and cosmetics. s Under the recent relaxation, youths and girls under 18 may leave or accept employment without permits from the man-power office.
