USE OF PETROL TAX
O.C. PALMERSTON N.. This Day. A conference of local body representatives in Palmerston North yesterday unanimously supported a resolution asking for a more equitable distribution of the petrol tax. This issue affected all local' bodies, said the Mayor of Palmerston North (Mr. A. E. Mansford). The petrol tax was levied for the betterment of roads, but was being used to bolster up the Consolidated Fund. Representations are to be made through the Counties" Association and the Municipal Association.
