GOLD SMUGGLING
MANY ARRESTS MADE
PARIS, September 2. Nearly 100 arrests have been made in connection with the smuggling of gold by an organisation of "flying crooks" operating between England and the Continent.
■ Five Frenchmen and one woman were arrested following the discovery of £40,000 sterling in gold in an earthenware jug buried in a garden at Annecy.
