Simmering, one of the best mams in Australia, broke a fetlock and had to bo destroyed. Tranquil Star equalled Ajax's nino-furlong course record on a dead track, and was given a great ovation. It was her twenty-first win. bringing her stake winnings to £25,900. The result was: — MEMSIE STAKES, £1000; weight-for-age; about 9 furlongs. Tranquil Siar (Gay Lothario —Lone Star), 8.13 IHartney) 1 La Patrice (St. Magnus—La Joconda), 8.9 (Cooper) ••■ 2 Tea Cake (Manitoba—Avert), 9.1 (Furtell) 3 Eight started. Head; length and a half.
