IM.Z. FOUNDERS' SOCIETY
Wet weather prevented fully half of the members of the New Zealand Founders' Society who had accepted invitations, from being present at the annual meeting on Saturday afternoon. The president, Mr. P. de B. Brandon, reviewed the work of the year, as set out in the Dominion council's report, including the celebration of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi and the laying of a wreath on the grave of Edward Gibbon Wakefield. Many interesting gifts had been forwarded, and he hoped that others would send articles of historic interest or books dealing with early days. Now that peace had come it would be possible for members to resume their full activities. A hearty. welcome would be extended to members who had been released from active service and to new members. The Wairarapa branch, he said, was making good progress. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The report of the women's committee dealt with the war work carried on during the year at the A.N.A. and R.S.A. clubs, while a worthy record was shown of woollen goods supplied to the Air Force Relations, Metropoliton Patriotic Committee, Merchant Navy, and clothing for Greece, as well as soldiers' parcels and parcels for l prisoners of war.
