DROUGHT CUTS CROP
PLIGHT OF YUGOSLAVIA
Rec. 9 a.m
BELGRADE, Sept. 2.
An unprecedented drought has halved Yugoslavia's harvest compared with pre-war years. It has partially or entirely destroyed crops, in Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Herzegovina, and some areas of Croatia. The Government has taken over all wheat from districts producing a surplus, and is distributing it equally among the threatened regions, which chiefly contributed to the liberation of Yugoslavia.
