THREAT OF HOLY CRUSADE Rec. 12.15 p.m. ALEXANDRIA, August 19
The General Secretary of the Arab League, Azzam Bey, commenting on President Truman's speech advocating Jewish immigration to Palestine, predicted a "Holy Crusade" between the East and West if the Jews were encouraged in the hope of a national home in Palestine. "We know, and Britain knows, that there is no space in Palestine for immigration and it is therefore useless again to prepare the way for Jewish immigration," he said.
