WELLINGTON CLUB
The 58th annual report and balancesheet of the Wellington Bowling Club, to be presented at the annual meeting next Wednesday, shows the club to be in an excellent position, both in membership and financially. Income exceeded expenditure by £225 17s Id, and the mortgage debt was reduced by £232 2s 6d. The sinking and renewal fund had advanced to £888 0s 4d. the sum of £76 18s lOd having been added during the year through donalions and accrued interest on investments. The club has 185 active members, 34 social, and five country members. Sympathetic reference is made in the report to the deaths of Messrs. Andrew Hamilton, Frank Ross, L. R. McKelvie, S. -McDougall. R. W. Davies, and W. Reid. Despite periods of unfavourable weather, the club greens had played well. Thanks were due to the Thorndon Club for permitting its greenkeeper to help the club over an emergency period. Appreciative reference is also made in the report to Mr. T. H. Meadows, who is retiring from the office of green superintendent, after over 12 years' service on the club's executive, on which he filled several positions, including that of president.
