"MISS ANZAC" CANDIDATE

New Zealand is being represented by a tall, golden-haired Sydney girl as "Miss Anzac" in the "Miss Australia" competition in aid of the Commonwealth's War Veterans' Appeal. She is Miss Maadi Harm, aged 22, the nominee of the New Zealand Returned Services' Club in Sydney. At the Sydney club last Saturday an autographed photograph of Miss Harm was auctioned in a room filled with Dominion sailors and soldiers. It fell to the bid of a decorated naval petty officer from Epsom, Auckland. A typical blueeyed tanned Australian girl. Miss Harm is the daughter of Mr." D. P. Harm, of Bellvue Hill, who fought on Gallipoli with the 17th Battalion of the A.I.F. Her brother is with the A.I.F. in Borneo,. and. her. fiance. has -been fighting at Tarakan. .A good tennis player, she .is also a keen golfer and surfer. .'

Candidates from, organisations all over Australia are : contestants. All the State winners and those whose organisations have raised -£2000 or more for the appeal will be judged in Sydney. ■■'■ '"Miss Australia" will be an ambassador ■ for the. Commonwealth, for in addition to receiving a cash prize, she will be given a £500 wardrobe, half of which has been donated by'the Australian Wool Board.
