GUARDS BECOME INFANTRY
MEN AGAIN
LONDON, June 9. The Guards Armoured Division is giving up its tanks, says the correspondent of the British United Press with the British 2nd Army. The Guards tankmen, after several years of service as an armoured formation, will again become infantrymen. To mark the occasion they are participating in a ceremonial march-past today on their own parade ground near Rothenburg. the scene of some of the fiercest fighting in the, closing weeks of the war.
The Guards Cavalry Regiment, which has been operating as part of the Guards Armoured Division, will eventually return to horses. The Guards say they are sorry to give up their tanks.
